Old TN Barn

On our way home from Florida, we decided to break up the long drive by making a couple of stops along the way. Pulling the trailer makes it tough to do the trip from Florida to Pennsylvania in one go, so splitting it up with a few interesting stops seemed like the perfect plan. We made stops in Alabama and Tennessee, allowing us to see more of the countryside and explore some new places we wouldn't normally visit.

One of those stops was at the Rice Grist Mill in Tennessee. I had seen pictures of it before and thought it would make for a great rustic photo opportunity, especially in infrared. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the mill was undergoing some renovations. One side of the building was covered in Tyvek wrap, and another side had flakeboard nailed on, which took away from the historical and rustic charm I was hoping to capture.

However, not far from the mill, we came across an old barn that had been relocated to the area. The barn stood tall, weathered, and full of character—just the kind of scene that lends itself perfectly to infrared photography. Despite the renovations happening at the mill, this barn saved the day, offering me the chance to capture something truly unique.

I shot the barn in infrared, capturing its textures and aged beauty in a way that gives it an otherworldly feel. It may not have been what I originally planned, but sometimes the best images come from unexpected discoveries. Hope you like the final result!
