On the Road Again...

So we’ve been super busy since I last talked to you. We finished the trip to Florida and got home the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Then in early December, we both got sick and had the flu for a week but then took a bit to get back up to par. Christmas was next, all while figuring out what to do with our trailer.

Ok, so the trailer, if you remember, was named Abbie (we liked the name, so we kept it for the new rig. See why we named them the way we did here https://www.tradndreams.com/blog/post/introducing-abby ). Our original trailer was a 2006 Aerolite; after using it for a few trips, the walls started to drop and created a bow in the floor, which really isn’t good, especially with my height. During the break at home, we were trying to figure out how to get a new trailer while keeping the payload capacity under control for our Tundra. It was a losing battle. We started to look for a whole new setup.

In steps Addie 2.0, if you will - a 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD (Loving this truck). We got her as a diesel before the prices went crazy. We love the way she pulls on our first trip but not the price at the pump, but we want to see and get out, so you deal with it.

As we were trying to get the truck done, we stumbled upon a toy hauler that we had looked at before on RV trader, and it was local, within our price range, and with enough room for us. We were waiting for the title, financing, and all the other BS that goes into buying from a private seller instead of a dealer. The process wasn’t smooth and caused a slight 5-day delay in our leaving for the trip.

Back to the trip, while in Ocala, we went to a street art fair, and Tracey said that I should do art fairs with my photography. I hadn’t even thought about it much; I had tried a local craft fair to find a big difference from an Art Fair. So began setting up for art fairs, figuring out a tent, how to hang products, getting stock images to hang, pricing, and all the “fun” nuances of that process.

We have three shows booked, Pendelton SC, Fernando Beach Fl, and Florence Al, over a 2-month period. We left two days before the first show in Pendelton; we got down to Lake Hartwell State Park in SC on Thursday, set up for the show Friday, did the show Saturday/Sunday, then took a deep breath on Monday. It was a crazy, fast, BUSY two weeks. Oh, did I mention we got the trailer 5 days before we left? Yep, I had to install two desks, install a water filter, figure out where stuff was, and figure out where we were putting the stuff we had to take in five days. It was a hectic and tight time frame. We just tossed boxes of stuff we knew we needed in the back of the toy hauler and sorted it later.

Now we are sitting in Santee State Park in South Carolina for two weeks (only 9 days left). From there, we do a few Boondocking spots before we have the next show in Fernando Beach, Fl.
